Hey there, welcome to my blog! My name is Alexina Galera and I am in my third year of Arts Education at the University of Regina. I applied to be a secondary teacher and I am thankful that I was given this opportunity to develop as an educator.
I was born and raised in Regina, SK and some things I enjoy in life include using different mediums to create art work (such as conte and paints) and being able to see parts of the world. My favourite trip that I have been on was when I went to Greece and Italy in 2017 and close second would be San Francisco. Although we only went to San Francisco for 3 days, we made the most of it and it was and incredible experience because I got to spend it with my family during thanksgiving.
My interest in teaching did not start until 2016. For the past 3 or 4 years, I have been able to assist in teaching cultural dances for the Maharlika Dance Group of Regina in order to perform during Mosaic and I have been a dancer with them for about 6 years. Being in a teacher like environment sparked my interest as being an educator. I decided to get a degree in Arts Education because I love drawing and painting. Throughout high school I was involved in all arts ed classes and including AP art in grade 12. I wanted to do what my grade 12 teacher did and that was to teach. The way she was involved in the students art and the creativity each individual has is something great to see.
I hope these next years of my degree are inspiring and I am able to fulfill the responsibilities of a future educator.
